Antique Appreciation? My mother has a collection of antiques that she wants to sell. The first step is to determine the value of each piece. How do I find someone to do a site assessment? Thank you in advance for your help.
Let me make a suggestion. Go on eBay and see if you can find them. It's amazing that everything you find on eBay.
You know what the items sell to represent the real value rather than a book full of speculation. The real value of an element is represented by what people are willing to pay.
Ebay is acceptable as a general reference ... But the prices are (in most cases) provided by the participating agent ... This means that they are offered a price that people feel they're worth, which does not reflect the real value, or even what most collectors would pay for auction or in a shop.
If it has enough orders ... Try going to an auction or antique shops and either deliver or sell them at auction, where people who are looking for specific items that will find something and to participate in a more direct, immediate bidding war. Thus the price bumped up.
See ... When people fight on E-bay on something, it's usually over a period of six days time and a few interested people quickly lose interest if the person has a hidden reserve on the issue. Meaning they put the maximum amount they are willing to pay for the deal below shows ... People are nervous, trying to try to understand what the price is because it does not show that you pass or better.
In a live auction, everyone knows what the supply and the last person in the competition is more direct and therefore the people are fighting over things that are precious. Not to mention if there is a reserve, if it does not sell for what you wish for it, you get the point of return ... On Ebay, they usually only affects things with large reserves unless they are really special!
Since I don t know what she has, I can not say ... Somethings speak for themselves and make money no matter where they are sold ...
I would say that the review ... Stay away from Ebay, to get a proper assessment.
