Just an old bird brain.

Believe me, they all got their pat answers. It's the same with all foods for pets. We consumers love our pets, it is difficult for us to conceive the idea that someone would not have their best interests at heart. But they do not.

And now we're so brainwashed into believing that the pellets or nuggets are the best diet for our pets. I agree that the grains are far from the only seed supply of shit that have been pushed into the 70s and 80s, but it is always treated, manufactured product that must be fortified with vitamins and minerals for make balanced and nutritional.

I pellets (Kaytee NOT), but only as a very small part of the diet. I think fresh, whole foods are the best. For example, instead of feeding my birds a pellet that is enriched with vitamin A, I eat foods naturally rich in vitamin A and beta carotene.

I'm with you on this point. I think the food industry for pets are shameful. Unfortunately, most people do not want to hear. They want what is easier and cheaper, and if they think it's always worked better in a way, they will not even consider another.

EDIT: I hate to say this, but I'm sure they take it on the ground. It is well known that what they put in most foods for dogs and cats are meat, which are rejected for human consumption and thrown into a huge pile on the floor. They even put in the list of ingredients "floor mill. Since this is true for other foods for pets, I do not see why it would be different for birds' food."
