What substance or method to use to use to remove the background paper and adhesive labels empty bottles? I want to recycle empty bottles of wine, but it takes time to fully remove paper and adhesives used on labels. I tried using hot water and soap, but the label, particularly the adhesive could not be properly cleaned
I had success with a product called Goo Gone. I purchased mine at Lowes for $ 3.96 for a bottle of spray 16 ounce. It works very well.
lemon juice.
Its natural
and it works! I've used for years on the label residues.
Good luck, hope it works!
my answer would be that you need water warmer than your help, but not so hot that it would brake the glass. tap water at the zenith and let sit for a minute or two before removing the label. I also do it with plastic containers that have labels on them and those that I put a label on the freezer.
Try
Good luck to you.
After soaking the bottle in hot water for an hour or two, peel or scratch paper while you can. Then, spray the remaining paper and glue with WD-40. It dissolves the glue, allowing you to wipe with a paper towel. The residue WD-40 (very slight) can be easily washed with soap and water.
Soak for a while in a sink full of hot water. A dirty carpet can help get the rest of the adhesive.
For any test results to try "goof off" or another solvent adhesive that you can buy in a hardware store. They are a bit greasy and dirty so I use with latex gloves, but they work like a charm.
Rubbing alcohol is the least expensive.
Oops
