What is the life expectancy of unopened bottles of wine? I'm building my wine rack? 99.99% of all wines are ready for consumption in freedom and will not improve. This includes brand wines and wines stocked by supermarkets. They should keep OK for a maximum of two years.
If you intend to have wine ready and available for consumption over the next two years, so there is no problem.
If you intend to wine aging to allow a better taste, then note that very few are designed to maintain and even they are not very enjoyable when young. They have high levels of tannins and the trick is to keep them long enough for the tannins to mellow and before the fruit fades.
This is mainly good red Bordeaux, red Burgundy some top, some red red top Italian and top red wood aged wines from other places.
Basically, you pay a good sum of money for a wine manageable, and its likely that those who pay the money to know about the wines they buy.
If you are considering buying wine store for someones birthday of the future, so if you are looking for more than 15 years, I suggest a good port (Portugal) - ask a good wine store.
I would also add that the Champagne and wines Champagne method other places to improve considerably if they are kept for 6 months to 3 years after purchase.
If you intend keeping wine in the hope that the old wine is precious, so it's unlikely. Very few wines become more valuable when they are old. Generally the types of wines mentioned above.
A very crude measure is how much they cost you nothing less than $ 20 must be drunk as soon as possible and in a few years, more than $ 50 and is likely to improve for some time and could be good for drink in 10 or 15 years.
But - an aged wine tastes differently to a young wine. Many people do not like the taste of old wine.
If you plan to store wine for long because you want to improve or if you think its value will rise, you first need to appreciate wine. Check back with names and vintages.
And the wines stored for aging needs to be kept cool and dark conditions.
Too much wine is open to late than too early!
Indefinitely .... If you plan to be one of those who wish to have a meeting and say "let me have a bottle of vintage 2006" lol
At some point if it will turn into pure grain alcohol, lol
I have heard that wine is really good until a certain point. In other words, it ages for several years and do not get better.
almost always, make sure you store on the side, to keep the cork moist.
wines as cool and dark storage.
depends on the wine, the wine store if u ome time they go so make sure they are inteded to be aged
Good question and a difficult question. Many factors can influence the response, as the grape, the measures taken in the process of fermentation and bottling procedures, etc. Some wines have been documented to be good after 100 years and more, while of Others may turn to vinegar in no time. Much has also to do with how you store them personally (temperature, light, etc..) Here's a site that will explain some of the factors to help you: http://www.intowine.com/cellar. html. But like many things, the preservation of wine is still a bit of a gamble.
It depends on the wine and where you are storing. You do not really need to worry if you drink things within a year. Generally, the more expensive bottles of red wine will last for some time (usually more than your patience, I have a few bottles of 1978 Rioja are always beautiful and had an Australian Cabernet from 1953) the whites are usually better drunk young or after a few years of their vintage.
