Family History SocietyAmerican History: family life and society in the 17th century?

How the number and situation of women in family life and society in New England, among Southern whites, and among African-American slaves?

I'm totally stuck on this one. I would appreciate any help please. =]

I know that was a common practice when an area has been settled and only the men would put up the house, clearing land, etc., and then they would place women, women would then do the sewing, cleaning, taking care of children, but many others work as phyiscal slaughter of animals. In addition, common in New England is that since there are many women around werent that many men had "relations with the Indians and caused a mixture of races, which certainly affect the society. The slaves in the south ofcourse had to work in the fields, but they also keep their personal gardens slave quarters to eat.
