G Scale Model Railroad

G Scale Model RailroadStarter Sets G Scale DCC?

Well, I'm finally entering the large model railway hobby in the garden with a classic 2-6-2 Prairie DC. However, I read about the benefits of DCC (Digital Command Control) to smaller scales, namely the constant full power on the rails (great for rail outdoors), and the fact that you can run more of a locomotive at a time, even in opposite directions. My question is:

Someone make an inexpensive system ACS G appropriate to the scale which is pretty much idiot proof?

I'm going to disagree with everyone and tell you not to go but will instead DCC RC. Aristo-Craft makes a very nice unit r / c you can control your locomotive at a fair distance and you can use on any locomotive. My game has a 10 amp transformer with remote unit attached. I leave it set up in the house and take the transmitter side when I run the layout. The distance that I can control the trains is well over 100 feet. I think you'll see that the G scale with less is more and you are running shorter and fewer trains. Most mines are never more than 5 cars. My plan is set up to run two trains, but I rarely if ever do. The R / C is close to be idiot proof.

System cost was just over $ 100, you may be able to do better, but you one with the long range. Sometimes, when I run my N scale I connect this system to, it works very well.

Good luck and enjoy the G scale, there is nothing like the trains running on the outside, just as real railroad.

Wow, nice to have space for G-Scale!

I am a railroad N-scale which are translated at the CDC in 2005 and would never return! I can run 20 different locomotives without all the "power-block wiring and switches.

DCC is not fool proof, not cheap (you always credit the $ 60-100 price of a locomotive)

I'm not familiar with the gear G-scale, but you can check these sites for garden scale:

Good luck!

Hello,

I highly recommend NCE DCC. http://www.ncedcc.com They are great people to deal with. They have more power together starter. Since you're running outside, many large-scale operators use batteries hidden in a wagon that loads at runtime to ensure constant power.

It's everything you need to get started!

Good Luck
Bill
