Does anyone know of any good resources or websites that can help you get further than 1837? I am really struggling to come back further than 1837 with my family tree as this is the time of births, deaths and marriages registers arrest. I really want to go further back and tried the international community Genealogical Index, with little success. Can anyone suggest otherwise I can try?
Hey imajica37,
Sure. But it varies by location. For example, I use Scotlands People website for RPGs (old records Perhocial) dating in the 1500s. Bibles are also a good source. The Mayflower Society has records for five generations of descendants after 1620.
In Canada, I use another set of sites. They may not help, but again, you need to obtain specific return until then.
If you search for "Vital Records" for a location, you may find that there are alternative sites for the town records before that date. So you need to get specific and search folders.
Also check GENFORUM for research on the family name you are looking for! Sometimes the search is performed, just to find out who has already done.
Try genforum.genealogy.com / "name here" and see if you can find other people looking for the same name.
No, I would like to know how you got that far. Al-tho my family traced back to1600 our ancetory. My great-aunt who did this, so I spent not know. She also had the money to travel and visit grave sites and churches. Even in Ireland, where my family came from Daddy.
