Looking For Family Members

Looking For Family MembersIm looking for family members in the Netherlands. Where to start?

My Dutch isn't great, if a site or information in English would be great.
Im trying to find the immediate family, but have lost contact since 10 years befor.

Have you tried using a search engine?
Google and others have found many people, simply search by name, and if the names are rare, only by first name or surname.
And if they use names Nick, also try the nicknames.

(If you searched for me, you will find the answers at Yahoo because of my nickname.)

There are sites out research as "klasgenoten" college buddies (?), But I can not help you much with those.

Added:
You can also try the telephone directory for Netherlands
http://www.detelefoongids.nl/tg-a/uitgeb ...
"Wie '= Who and" Waar is = where.
Naam = name, initials Voorletters =.
City Plaatsnaam =
Or choose all heel Nederland = Netherlands.

Yes, the telephone guide (above) is the easiest way to track someone down, provided they are listed, all of which are not.

And, of course, its much easier if they have an unusual name - to find the equivalent of "Smith" would be quite difficult in this way.

If you can reduce a city or village, then it will be easier course.

If you still have their old address, you can probably contact the city council or gemeente, have a register where people have moved to, and track them that way. Whenever you move to Holland you must register for the new municipality, and strike out with the old, giving them your new address. So its easy capture with someone through them. At least I think it would be possible, perhaps they have some "privacy" restrictions to give info.
