Squirrel Proof Feeders

Squirrel Proof FeedersHow do you squirrel proof feeders?

I love watching the birds and filling their feeders, but I do not watch the squirrels emptying. I bought the "feeders squirrel proof" that are the springs and close the supply ports of their weight, and I bought the plastic bowl looking contraptions, and they do not work ... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I fought this battle long ago and also had problems with large numbers of doves and squirrels, clean my feeders in no time. I found that you have to buy a special feeder squirrel proof. I tried a lot and finally found two that are really evidence of a dove and squirrel-proof:

Brome Squirrel Buster Plus-(the best)

Droll Yankees Yankee Whipper (it is squirrel proof if mounted at least 16 "of aid, or any wall or a tree, so that squirrels can not reach it and pull their own hunger bit.)

Another good food that is both squirrels and birds is the size of Feeder Duncraft selective, but it is a feeder cage, if the Cardinals can not use it. I have one of these that I use too, and it is wonderful for small birds. The peaks can also be used by hanging, as grosbeaks and other birds are desirable, but not cardinals.

The two I listed, the Yankee Flipper Squirrel Buster and Brome, are sensitive to weight. Bromine can even be adjusted so that large birds such as doves can not eat! I am so happy with mine. If you get the Brome, you must be sure to get the ring that goes with Cardinal so they can eat.

This week on my feeders, I had the red-breasted cardinal, indigo bunting, the downy woodpecker, red headed woodpeckers, hairy woodpeckers, red-bellied woodpecker, chicadees, chickadees, goldfinches, house finches, blue jays, white breasted nuthatches, nuthatches brownheaded, but no squirrels and doves NO!

To get the best price, try and bestnest.com cooperseeds.com. Bestnest has a useful search engine that lets you select what you do and do not want to eat.

I am passionate about this subject and have also spent too much money in my quest for departures right. My feeders are squirrel and dove, the proof that I am using sunflower kernels so there is no waste in disorder. (Cooperseed.com a bulk price is good.) I have two Yankee Flippers, a Selective Duncraft, Brome Squirrel Buster and a ring with the Cardinal, so I hope you can benefit from my experience and enjoy your birds!

PS I DO bulk to cracked corn seed that I put Cooper on the ground in large quantities as a consolation for the squirrels and doves; towhee, white-throated sparrows, juncos and like her, too!

It is important to know how the charger is mounted, and if the squirrels are climbing or jumping a senior position. If they are not climbing to a position, the only thing you can do is move the charger. If the charger is mounted on a post near the air access, you can cover about 36 inches from the post with aluminum or other metal that squirrels can not get his claws in climbing. Make sure the metal is high enough that the squirrel can not jump higher and grab it.

I heard that putting pepper flakes help keep them away from food. A friend of mine had her husband make a steel box that was probably 20 inches deep, turn upside down over the pole and set the charger up. They can climb the pole but can not move in the box. for this to work well, your diet should be away from trees, because they can jump on it.

A piece of PVC pipe slipped over the post on freestanding feeder works well. It is smooth and they can not climb. Must be 4 or 5 feet high.
